Ayat 118. And (He did forgive also) the three [who did not join the Tabuk expedition (whom the Prophet [SAWW](PBUH)] left (i.e. he did not give his judgment in their case, and their case was suspended for Allah's Decision) till for them the earth, vast as it is, was straitened and their own selves were straitened to them, and they perceived that there is no fleeing from Allah, and no refuge but with Allah. Then, He accepted their repentance, that they might repent (unto Him). Verily, Allah is the One Who accepts repentance, Most Merciful.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, the world will not come to an end until a man passes by a grave and will lie over it saying, `Would that I were in this grave (i.e., dead)!' Not he will say so because of religious reasons but because of widespread mischief and severe trials of this world.'' [Al-Bukhari Hadith # 7115].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah At-Taubah Ayat 118. "there is no fleeing from Allah, and no refuge but with Allah". This Hadith poitns out there is no refuge but Allah. There would be such disasters and agony in the world that people will prefer death to life under such conditions. This situation will arise before the Day of Resurrection, and the Day of Judgment will dawn on such wicked people.
